THE STORY

Kochi: a closer look

Kochi’s maritime history brought different trading and religious communities into a coastal setting. Fort Kochi and Mattancherry reward walking, with architecture, galleries and neighbourhood life offering varied perspectives.

Kerala’s coastline has long connected trading communities, religious traditions and local kingdoms. Kochi’s neighbourhoods and palaces make that history visible. Inland, tea and spice landscapes introduce a different environment, while Alappuzha and Kumarakom are associated with the backwaters.

How to experience it

Allow time to understand the setting, not just take a photograph. A local guide can add context, help select the most relevant stops and adapt the experience to your interests and walking comfort.

Before you visit

Opening hours, access, tickets, photography rules and advance arrangements should be checked for your travel dates. Share any mobility or dietary requirements when requesting a programme.
